Delta Phi Lambda Foundation Announces 2023 Scholarship Recipients
ATLANTA, GA ─ The Delta Phi Lambda Foundation is proud to announce the newest recipients of its annual scholarship programs. These outstanding individuals have demonstrated exceptional academic and career achievement, leadership skills, and dedication to serving their communities.
The recipients of this year's scholarships are Danika Ng (Hannah Seoh Alumnae Scholarship, $1,000), Cheryl Blank (Hannah Seoh Alumnae Scholarship, $1,000), Aliyah Muniz (Academic Excellence Scholarship, $1,000), and Rebecca Lee (Academic Excellence Scholarship, $1,000).
Danika Ng is a University of North Carolina Charlotte (Pi Chapter) alumna, currently pursuing her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree. As a future physician, she plans to be the first line of defense for a patient during potentially the most vulnerable moment of their life, not only alleviating ailments via diagnosis and patient-autonomous treatment plans but also eradicating shame by replacing this powerfully negative emotion with instead empowerment.
University at Albany (Mu Chapter) alumna Cheryl Blank is currently pursuing her MS in Data Science. With this award alleviating the financial burden of graduate school, she hopes to have additional time to focus on school work that will open up more future job opportunities and more time to be there for her home chapter and to help them as much as she can.
Academic Excellence Award recipient Aliyah Muniz is the current chapter president at University of Nebraska Lincoln and VP of the Multicultural Greek Council, studying Communication Sciences and Disorders with an emphasis in Audiology. Through her studies, Aliyah hopes to provide treatment to those who suffer from hearing loss and provide a safe space for everyone to receive hearing services.
Rebecca Lee, Biology major at University at Albany (Mu Chapter), also serves as Co-Recruitment Chair for her chapter and is actively involved in the Korean Student Association and Middle Earth peer assistance hotline. She has been accepted to a summer research and shadow abroad program in Portugal and Switzerland with UNICEF, a United Nations agency that handles and provides humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide.
Rebecca says, “The [Academic Excellence] scholarship has given me a step closer to pursuing my dream and aspiration to go into the medical field to become a surgical oncologist with alleviation of financial burden.”
In addition to their impressive academic credentials, these students have demonstrated a commitment to giving back to their communities. They have volunteered countless hours in various community organizations, served as leaders in their schools and universities, and demonstrated a passion for creating positive change in their communities.
"The Delta Phi Lambda Foundation is committed to empowering the next generation of leaders by providing financial assistance to deserving students," said Sara Yang, of the Delta Phi Lambda Foundation Board of Directors. "We are proud to support these exceptional students as they continue their education and work to make a positive impact in their communities."
