Delta Phi Lambda Foundation awards four sisters with leadership scholarships to attend AFLV Central
Atlanta, GA -- Over 3,800 campus administrators, national organizations, and students convened in Indianapolis for the Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values (AFLV) Central Conference. AFLV Central is comprised of the Central Fraternal Leadership Conference, the National Black Greek Leadership Conference, and Delta Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc.’s Midyear Leadership Conference. Since 2011, the Delta Phi Lambda Foundation has sponsored scholarships for sisters to attend the conference and experience over 200 educational opportunities for students and professionals.
Of the many applications received, the Foundation awarded four scholarships. One scholarship was made possible thanks to a donor-advised grant created by the alumnae sisters of Zeta Chapter at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Leighann Raksasouk, a second-year student from Zeta Chapter, was awarded the conference scholarship. Raksasouk shared her aspirations were to “meet new people, learn from the workshops, and gain advice from speakers.”
Three additional scholarships were made possible thanks to a successful Giving Tuesday campaign and fundraiser partnership with the University of Georgia Delta Phi Lambda Alumnae Association.
One scholarship was awarded to Angela Harrington, a second-year student from the Lambda Chapter of Delta Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. at Purdue University. Two scholarships were awarded to Kasha Yang and Rena Liu, both second-year students from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Foundation has continued to sponsor scholarships for AFLV Central because of the leadership education and networking opportunities the conference provides.
“This conference was the best that I have attended so far, and this scholarship helped very much,” Liu said about AFLV Central. “This experience will now allow me to help my chapter grow more in the future.”
Situated alongside the sorority’s Midyear Leadership Conference, the scholarship grants sisters an opportunity to connect with other dedicated female leaders from around the nation. Sisters who wish to apply for the 2020 AFLV Central Scholarship should follow the Delta Phi Lambda Foundation on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
Scholarships like the Midyear Leadership/AFLV Central Scholarship are made possible by the generosity of the Foundation’s donors. Make a donation today by visiting www.dphilfoundation.org.
